The company was under the management of FCB & Technisure between 7th October 1975 to 3rd January 1978, when the management changed hands to the Government of Kenya, which remained at the helm of the company up to 11th January 1999. Between 12 January 1999 and 31 August 2003, the company was managed by F.C. Schaffer & Associates from whom the management reverted back to the Government of Kenya, which is in charge to date

Human Resource ManagerHe is an intuitive, lively, and easy-to-understand facilitator of change and growth who is deeply drawn to educational and non-government organizations in the country and beyond. He is also a trainer and who has been coaching both young & senior professionals at consultancy levels.
Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the Moi University Eldoret. He also has in his cap a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Mediterranean Institute of Management in Cyprus and is a Trained Trainer. He is also pursuing a Master in Human Resource Management from the OUT/IHRM institute.
Having been a seasoned Human Resources Practitioner who has managed HR aspects in the manufacturing Industry for two decades, he is well conversant with all Human Resource dynamics including but not limited to recruitment and selection, interviewing, induction, placements and deployments, job descriptions, performance contracts/appraisals, training and development, job evaluation and grading structures. He also has diverse knowledge in payroll and salary administration, promotions, HR information systems, statutory obligations, labor laws and industrial/employee relations, community interventions, occupational health and safety, gender/PLWDs(disability)mainstreaming, and HIV/AIDS prevention activities, among others.
His passion is to guide and facilitate changes in awareness, behavior, attitude, knowledge, and skills to result in improved performance, better relationships, more creativity, choice, fulfillment, and balance.
Brian joined Nzoia Sugar Company in January 1996 and is currently the Acting Human Resource Manager of Nzoia Sugar Company in charge of managing all the Human Resources functions in the Company.
During his working period, he has recorded numerous achievements. For instance, he coordinated joint sugar industry ventures in industrial relations workshops and conferences by the Kenya Society of Sugar cane Technologists ;( KSSCT). He also streamlined and regularized training programs to operate within required schedules, frameworks and guidelines including board of directors’ workshops. He also made a great contribution towards culture change attitude and knowledge enhancement to the Nzoia Sugar Company workforce in line with the prevalent training needs, hence boosting industrial relations harmony and productivity. Additionally, he designed and developed several HR working tools, HR policies, and the staff administrative code.
Worth mentioning is the fact that Brian was once an active member of the Kenya Premier League (KPL) Governing Council and Chairman Nzoia Sugar FC. During his tenure, he accompanied the KPL All Stars team to Madrid, Spain for meetings and a tournament organized by La Liga and SportPesa after a partnership deal was signed in a bid to Improve Kenyan Soccer in 2017.
His mantra in life is that the “harder the battles, the sweeter the victory”.
Outside the confines of his office, Music. Football, traveling and social activities including church are part of his life.

Agriculture Services ManagerIgnatius joined Nzoia Sugar Company in the year 2002 as a trainee engineer. During his 18 years working stint at the Company, he worked as a Light vehicle Superintendent, Heavy Plants Superintendent, Field Workshop Manager and until he was promoted to his current role as the Agricultural Services Manager.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech- Hons) from Moi University. He is also a member of the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and a certified Quality Auditor.
One of the notable achievements of his career involve designing and fabricating a 6-point furrow machine that has since been customized by the Kenya Sugar Directorate for industry use.
His mantra is “Self-discipline proceeds professional excellence”.

Company SecretaryRita joined Nzoia Sugar Company Limited on 5th October, 2010. She is an experienced advocate with a wealth of knowledge having spent 5 (five) years in litigation before joining Nzoia Sugar Company in 2010.
She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Commissioner for Oaths, a notary Public and a Certified Professional mediator. Rita was admitted to the bar on 13th October, 2005 and: currently have 15 (fifteen) years’ post admission experience.
Rita hold a Bachelors Degree in Law from the Moi University and is currently undertaking her Masters Degree in Strategic Management at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology. She is also a member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing.
Rita started my carrier in private practice with the law firm, J.O. Makali & Company Advocates where she worked for 5 (five) years. She was responsible for competent representation of clients in court through skills, thoroughness and preparation. She also acted at all times within the law while respecting the duty of fairness and impartiality to all.
In her current role as the Ag. Company Secretary of Nzoia Sugar Company, she is responsible for providing secretariat services to the board, preparing board calendars and work plans and promoting board development through board evaluation, induction and training. She also provides Legal support, maintenance of statutory internal control standards and legal advice to the board and management. Additionally, Rita manage the insurance docket, pool transport, mailing and security services for the company.

Chief Internal AuditorLucas who joined Nzoia Sugar’s Leadership team in July of 2011 is an experienced Management level leader with a wealth of experience in Corporate Governance, Finance and Administration, Risk and Internal Audit. He has spent over 25 years in various roles within the Financial Services, Manufacturing and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sectors in Kenya.
He holds an MBA from the University of Nairobi and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the Kenya Methodist University. He is also a Certified Forensic Investigation Professional and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK), Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and the Institute of Certified Forensic Investigation Professional (ICFIP).
Mr. Alwala started his career at the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, a Public Communications service provider, and has worked in both the Public and Private sector setups.
His mantra in life is that “everyone alive has some potential in them”.

Benjamin joined Nzoia Sugar Company on August 7, 1989 and has spent over 31 years in factory operations and management.
He holds a Masters in Business Administration (operation management option) from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology and Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry from the University of Nairobi. He is also a registered Quality Management System auditor, member of Chemical Society of Kenya (CSK) and Kenya Society of Sugarcane Technology (KSST).

Agriculture ManagerFrancis joined the Company in 1990 but left briefly on a sojourn with other leading institutions making a comeback in 2005 for a second stint.
During this lengthy period, he played a leading role in Human Resource Development in the Agricultural sector by way of research, education and training.
He started his carrier as a lecturer at Bukura institute of Agriculture before proceeding for further studies at the University of Nairobi. Upon completion, he worked with various institutions including East African Breweries as an Agronomist, Farmchem Ltd as Product development Manager and Jomo Kenyatta university of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) as a lecturer.
Francis is a qualified Agronomist with a Master’s degree from the University of Nairobi. He is also a certified ISO Auditor in Quality Management System (QMS). Francis has also attended a number of courses in Management including, but not limited to, Financial and Human resource management.

Public Relations ManagerFlorence Joined Nzoia Sugar Company in September 2011. She is a seasoned Public Relations Practitioner having spent over 15 years working in both the Private and Public sector. She started her career at Montage Media Company Ltd, a Film Production firm where she worked for 3 years. She credits Montage for laying the foundation of her career in the Multimedia communications industry. During her working stint at the Company, several productions were credited to her name including several award-winning documentaries including one about the Bukusu Circumcision ceremony “How to Become a man”.
She holds a Bachelors Degree in Mass Media and Communications from the Mount Kenya Unversity and a Diploma in Mass Media from the Multi Media University of Kenya. She is also a member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya and sits in the Partnership and Fundraising committee of the society.
In her most recent role as the Ag. Public Relations Manager of Nzoia Sugar Company, she is responsible for managing the reputation of the Company by creating an enabling business environment through timely and effective communication.
One of the greatest achievements of her time will be the introduction of the use of Digital communication platforms in the Company in 2012 as a customer feedback mechanism, the introduction of an online media monitoring system by Meltwater South Africa and working with a lean team to establish a functional PR Department in the Company.
Most recently, she lists among her achievements the historic period in the year 2019 under the leadership of the sitting CEO, where she led her team to bring Stakeholder support to the Company’s revival journey. During that period, donations in cash and in kind amounting to well over 5 million shillings from our stakeholders proved that the community around us wanted to see the Company back on its feet. History was made that time and the resilience of our workforce and the overwhelming support of our stakeholders kept us going.
Her mantra in life is that “every leadership role is a God given opportunity to serve and make a difference”.

She started her career at Sameer Africa Limited where she served in Trade development for 8 years before joining Nzoia Sugar.
Edwina holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Marketing Option) from Bugema University, Kampala. She is also a member of the Marketing Society of Kenya (MSK) and The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM UK).
Her passion revolves around delivering value to customers and customer care.
