NZOIA SUGAR PARTICIPATES IN MARAKARU FARMERS’ FIELD DAY

Nzoia Sugar Company took part in a farmers field day themed “Climate Smart Technology for Improved Food and Nutrition Security” held at Hon. Moses Wetangula’s farm in Tuuti Marakaru Ward , Kanduyi Sub County on 25th October 2024.

The objective of the event was to share Climate Smart Technologies with farmers for improved food security, inspire more individuals to pursue occupations in agriculture, and urge farmers to join SACCOS to access agricultural financing, with the ultimate goal of alleviating poverty and hunger.

Speaking during the event, Bungoma County CEC Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Herbert Kibunguchi, who was also the chief guest, urged farmers to capitalize on the western region’s favorable climate and fertile land in order to increase their agricultural revenue. “Jembe mkononi, pesa mfukoni” was Engineer Kibunguchi’s slogan for encouraging more people to take up Agriculture.

In attendance were various agricultural organizations among them KALRO, Syngenta, NAVCDP, and Kenya Seed who had an opportunity to showcase their products to the farmers present.

Nzoia Sugar Company also took the opportunity to showcase various sugar cane varieties to farmers and educated them on good crop husbandry for high production and revenue generation.

Teams from our Agriculture and PR Departments represented the Company during the event.
