NZOIA SUGAR FC RECEIVES GOODIES FROM FORMER ICT CS ELIUD OWALO

Nzoia Sugar FC players received a shot in the arm for the upcoming season, after former ICT CS Hon. Eliud Owalo paid the team a visit, donating 30 track suits and a cash token worth Ksh. 200,000.00 to the players, at an event held on Monday 12th August at the company’s Guest House.

Speaking at the function, Hon. Owalo noted that Nzoia Sugar FC has produced top talents that has ended up plying its trade down the years in bigger Kenya Premier Leagues teams and ultimately in the national team.

Owalo further stated that Nzoia Sugar FC is a well renowned club in the country, hence he will do anything humanly possible to enable the team returns to top tier football next season, with the Millers set to spend the new season in the National Super League.

 Owalo, who has a long history with Nzoia Sugar Company, the club’s parent sponsor, having helped develop strategic plans for the company in 2008, 2012 and 2017, charged the players to double their efforts, saying that discipline, determination and hard work are requisite for them to reach greater heights of their careers.

 Mr. Ogeke Kenyatta, standing in for the Managing Director thanked the guest for the support, stating that the company was not able to fully support the club in previous seasons due to financial constraints. Mr. Ogeke further welcomed support from any sponsors who would be willing to chip in and ensure the club’s quick return to the Kenya Premier League.

On his part, Nzoia Sugar FC Chairman Yapets Mokua equally thanked the guest for his kind gesture, asking him to support the team in even a bigger way. He further noted that it would be great if Mr. Owalo would help the team through financial sponsorship to assist cover the financial budget deficit the club is grappling with at the moment. He also requested him to bring his friends on board to assist on the same front. Mr. Mokua also requested Mr. Owalo to consider refurbishing the stadium and in return get an opportunity to brand the stadium as a way of marketing his foundation. Finally, the Chairman requested Mr. Owalo to chip in with club bus repairs which are to the tune of Ksh. 1.5 million.

 Harambee Stars and Gor Mahia legend Peter Dawo, who led other former players during the function, encouraged the players to be disciplined and committed to the game by putting their best foot forward so as to turn around the club’s form and front their talent to the world. He further asked the players to invest the little they were earning, so as to have something once their football glory days are over. “There is life after football. Think of something else you will do after football”, he emphasized.

 Former Nzoia FC football legend, coach, team manager and chairman Mr. Evance Kadenge encouraged the players to play the game for the love of the game and not for the love of money. He added that with determination, passion and discipline they can achieve anything they want in sports and go far in their careers.

Present were several legends of Kenyan football including Leonard Khayota, Austin Oduor, Aggrey Lukoye, Dan Musuku, Washington Muhanji, Thomas Omboko and Denis Munyendo. Others present were Former Nzoia FC Chairman Evance Kadenge, Anthony Waliuba, Wanyonyi Wepukhulu, Linus Juma, Maurice Khayota and Bernard Onyango.

 The football club committee led by the chairman Mr. Yapets Mokua, Company’s Public Relations Manager Ms. Florence Mutinda, the Quality Assurance Manager Mr. Benson Khwatenge, Strategy and Planning Manager, who is also the club’s CEO Mr. Anthony Fungututi, the Technical bench led by Interim Head Coach and Team Manager and a section of the playing unit were also present.
