NZOIA SUGAR COMPANY GRACES THE FOOD SECURITY EXHIBITION IN KIBABII

 Agriculture Principal Secretary Dr. Paul Rono, accompanied by Hon. Ken Lusaka Govenor Bungoma County and his counterpart Hon. Fernendes Barasa of Kakamega County, presided over the official launch of the week-long pre-madaraka day food security exhibition at the Kibabii University in Bungoma County on May 27th 2024.

Speaking during the event, the PS Dr. Paul Rono expressed his utmost gratitude to the various exhibitors who availed themselves and provided a platform for individuals and institutions willing to learn on matters Agriculture and food security.

Dr. Rono recognized that Nzoia Sugar Company is indeed one of the drivers of the economy of the County and stated that indeed the National Government was keen to restore sugar production profitability both locally as well as internationally. He added that through a leasing model. The Government will ensure that the Government-owned sugar mills (Nzoia, Chemilil, Muhoroni, and Sony) will be fully revived.

Nzoia Sugar Company, one of Kenya’s main agricultural organizations, attended the Beta Kilimo Madaraka Day Pre-Exhibition at Kibabii University where the company had a platform to educate the public on the various cane varieties and their benefits to the farmers. A replica of the factory was also on display, giving interested visitors the opportunity to learn how sugar is produced and the various phases involved. The public also had an opportunity to buy our natural cane sugar availed in different packages at factory prices.
