This followed a Presidential directive over the same ahead of his visit to the Company on 28th August 2023, where he affirmed that Government will fund the revival of Nzoia Sugar Company’s Nucleus Estate to boost it’s raw material base to support operations.
In line with the directive, ADC provided six tractors for land preparation while NYS provided supervision during the integral period of revival from 24th August 2023, targeting to put all Nucleus Estate fallow land 1695 hectares under cane.
Since the start of the project, which was on 24th August 2023 right after the Agriculture and Food Authority suspended all Milling operations, a total of 434 hectares of fallow land has been ploughed in the first phase of the project. Out of that, 393 hectares has been planted and the process is ongoing.
NSC Managing Director CPA Ezron Kotut welcomed the move, saying that the entire NSC fraternity is committed towards the revival. He also thanked the Government for their commitment and support. The project has taken a 3 weeks break and will resume early 2024. The ADC is committed to plough the entire fallow land as per the Government’s directives.
