Nzoia Football Club Fans entertaining guests During the fund raising drive

Nzoia Sugar Football Club held a fundraising on Friday 1st December 2023 at Bungoma Members Club, with the aim of raising funds to support the team.

Nzoia FC, the only team from Bungoma County that plies its trade in Kenya’s top tier league, raised Sh1,413,338/- both in cash and in kind that will go a long way in helping the team honor some of its matches and support the playing unit.

Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka was the chief guest during the event, which was attended by representatives of the National Assembly Speaker Hon. Moses Wetangula and MP John Makali.

Present too, were Sports CEC Eng. Agnes Wachie, Trade CEC Caroline Khalayi, Culture Chief Officer Denson Barasa and a host of other dignitaries. Nzoia Sugar Company Board Chair Hon. Alfred Khang’ati, Managing Director Ezron Kotut a couple of Company’s Board members, Heads of Departments, the team’s technical staff and playing unit were equally present.

Speaking during the event, the CEC sports Eng. Agnes Wachie who was standing in for the Governor as the Chief Guest, stated that the Governor has promised to support the team to ensure good results are realized. National Assembly Speaker in his message, equally promised to later visit the team in the coming days and offer further support. Similar messages were delivered by the area legislator and other County officials present.

The Company Board Chairman Hon. Alfred Khang’ati in his speech assured the playing unit and the technical bench of the full support of the Board stating that as part of their commitment, they had already approved the transfer of the football club bus to the team to aid in transportation.

The Governor sent his contribution of Sh500,000/- while the National Assembly Speaker contributed Sh100,000/-.

Nzoia Sugar Company, the club’s primary sponsor contributed Sh100,000/- while the Company Management and Board contributed Sh98,000/- and 65,000/- respectively. Staff contribution was Sh. 61,900/- while the planning committee gave Sh. 65,000/-. Former club chairman Evance Kadenge contributed Sh60,000/- while Health CS Susan Nakhumicha, MP John Makali and CECM Caroline Khalayi contributed Sh50,000/-  each.

Others included CO Denson Barasa (Sh20,000/-), County Speaker Emmanuel Situma and Kisiwa Technical Principal (Sh10,000/- each). MCA Vitalis Wangila also contributed Sh. 2,000/-.

Our suppliers ‘Azania Sports house’ gave 10 balls worth Sh. 55,000/- , while ‘All Pack’ contributed Sh.10,000/- . We also received Ksh. 10,000 from 22 bet and Ngabu Steel Sh. 2,000/-.

Other stakeholders, NYS Director General contributed Sh. 5,000/- while Agriculture ure Food Authority (AFA) pledged Sh. 100,000/-  through their CSR program.
