The exercise which was launched on 3rd April 2023, will be held twice every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will continue till the entire targeted surface is covered with cane. A total of 150 acres of fallow land have been covered since the exercise began leaving a targeted surface of 850 acres yet to be covered.
The Company boasts of a large Nucleus Estate farm spanning 3,600 hectares which supplies 20% of the raw material required for crushing at the factory plant. However, due to lack of adequate resources, the company has been unable to cover the entire fallow land with cane as fully maintain the existing cane.
This is the second time the Company is embarking on a cane planting RRI program at the Nucleus Estate. The first initiative was held in 2019 and covered 400 acres of fallow land.
