NSC BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND MANAGEMENT TOUR THE NUCLEUS ESTATE

The Board of Directors led by the Chair Hon. Alfred Khang’ati and Management team led by acting Managing Director CPA Ezron Kotut, toured the company’s Nucleus Estate farm on 10th May 2023 to assess its current status and discuss ways of revamping it.
The company has targeted several areas of focus in its sustainability goals and revamp of the Nucleus Estate is top in the agenda.
The Board of Directors under the leadership of the Chairman, Hon. Alfred Khangati toured newly ploughed fields, fields under irrigation, recently planted fields under the ongoing Rapid Results Initiative program and other existing fields that required urgent intervention in terms of maintenance.
Speaking during the tour, the Agriculture Manager, Mr. Francis Oringe stated that much support was needed in order to revive the Nucleus Estate including financial allocation and support to perform proper cane husbandry practices such as fertilizer application, weeding, ploughing and planting of the fallow land so that the whole estate can be well utilized and existing plots be well maintained so that good yields can be realized.
During the tour, Directors expressed interest in expansion of the furrow irrigation project since reports indicated that the fields were doing exceptionally well in terms of yield.
